Tyler Young

Born and raised in the Greater Toronto Area, I have been fortunate enough to live in a few different provinces over the course of my professional career.  From the laid-back and friendly hospitality of the Maritime provinces (New Brunswick & Prince Edward Island) to the remote picturesque confines of Northern Ontario, I’ve been able to see the expansive beauty that this country has to offer.  I’m currently living in Edmonton with my wife and four children.

Professionally, shortly after finishing school, I began my career in the field of Municipal Recreation & Community Services management.  This career arc would last for almost eleven years, spanning four different municipalities, and culminating with my most recent position as the senior public administrator for a Recreation & Culture department in a developing border town in Northern Ontario.  During my career, I have been able to specialize in a few different areas, including – recreation programming, community development, marketing, public relations, risk management, partnership development, fundraising, stakeholder engagement, and organizational development.

I am an athlete, a longtime vegetarian, and I lead a very busy and active lifestyle.  I enjoy cross-country running, cycling, mountain biking, and hiking.  I also enjoy musical theatre, reading, and public speaking.  Finally, I am a HUGE fan of the horror genre (movies, books, art), and I love cinema, vinyl (records), and board games.

Lisa Desjarlais

Originally from Northern Alberta, I made my way to Edmonton for my post-secondary education at Concordia University. There, I pursued a Bachelor of Management with a major in Human Resources Management. Outside the academic realm, I’ve recently developed an interest in anime and manga, with “Spy Family” currently topping my favorites list.

During the summer months, my enthusiasm shifts to hiking and exploring the mountains, always eager to discover new trails and open to suggestions. Alongside these activities, I maintain a strong passion for weightlifting and self-defence. As I embark on this new professional journey with the Salto team, I look forward to blending my academic background seamlessly and making meaningful contributions to the team’s success.

Taryne McMullen

Taryne started working at Salto Gymnastics in 2024 as a Customer Service Representative.  She is currently a student in Secondary Education at the University of Alberta. Taryne has a passion for all sports and dedicates time to coaching athletes of all ages particularly in basketball.  She is new to the Salto administrative family; however, she was a Salto gymnastics athlete when she was younger.  Taryne is excited to join the Salto team and she looks forward to connecting with the Salto community and contributing to the success and growth of the organization.

Simrat Sivia

Born in Toronto but travelled multiple places around Canada before settling in Edmonton, AB, Simrat is currently in school for Respiratory Therapy at NAIT.  Simrat has played field hockey competitively for many years, playing for team Aberta and attending many camps for team Canada.  Simrat comes from a long line of field hockey players in her family – her dad, brother, and fiancé.  Simrat moved to an acreage in Ardrossan a year ago and is loving that free atmosphere.  She is very pleased to be a part of the Salto Gymnastics team and hopes to contribute in any way to make Salto Gymnastics grow and thrive.

Katie Fichtner

Hi, my name is Katie, and I am part of the office team! I was involved in gymnastics when I was young and look forward to seeing others fall in love with the sport. I have over 7 years of experience in customer service and look forward to helping with anything you may need.
