coaches

meet salto's dream team

Our coaches are the best of the best. When you train with a Salto Gymnastics coach, you are working with elite professionals, trained within the National Coaching Certification Program in theoretical, technical and practical aspects of coaching gymnastics.

They have completed individual study, and hands-on coaching experience under the supervision of Salto’s senior coaching staff and management team with a lifelong passion for our sport and decades worth of knowledge to pass down.

Our team includes coaches with extensive international MAG experience, FIG level judging experience, and international ACRO experience, allowing us to coach according to our athletes’ needs rather than a one size fits all approach.

Additionally, all of our coaches are First Aid certified, Respect in Sport – Activity Leader certified, Commit to Kids trained, Gymnastics Foundations trained, and Trampoline trained.

They receive ongoing training in Gymnastics Foundations, Trampoline as well as all aspects of professional development. Because our coaches receive ongoing coaching themselves, those benefits transfer directly to our athletes.

kimberly hamel

Hi, my name is Kim and I have been coaching for over 15
years.  Gymnastics was always a major
part of my life growing up. My grandparents started the gymnastics club in my
small town and my mom continued it as I grew up. I competed until I was 12
then transitioned to coaching. It is an awesome sport and the best for body
awareness and literacy!

Chelsea Mcnabb

I have been a part of the Salto family for over 23 years. Starting out as a rec athlete at age 4, quickly moving into competitive where I competed for 12 years, then switching over to Acro a few years later. I started coaching at age 13 and have worked with athletes of all ages and abilities, from parent and tot classes to Team Canada Acro Athletes. My favorite part about coaching is seeing the excitement and pride in the athletes as they learn new skills, and being a part of their lives as they grow up! In my free time I enjoy camping, fishing, and crafts of all kinds.

rebecca wareham

Hi, I’m Rebecca, and I have been involved in the sport of gymnastics for 30 years; first as an athlete, then as a coach, parent, and National-level judge.  Gymnastics is my passion, and Salto is like my second home.  I love that gymnastics is for everyone and has benefits reaching far beyond just learning how to flip.  Watching the growth of each athlete as both a gymnast and a person is the biggest reward in my job.  I want everyone to fall in love with gymnastics as much as I am.  If I’m not doing something gymnastics-related, I am spending time with my family, traveling, dancing, cheering on Oilers, or singing Disney songs.

aleesha arcand

Aleesha has been involved in gymnastics since she was 5 years old and has trained in all different aspects of gymnastics including Artistic, Rhythmic, and Acro. She was a part of the Alberta North Medley that went to Helsinki, Finland as a part of Team Canada to perform at the World Gymnaestrada in 2015. She has been coaching gymnastics for 12 years including 18 months of coaching in China after graduating high school. Her goal is to create a fun and safe environment in her classes and to inspire a love of the sport within the kids she coaches.

tana arcand

Hi, my name is Tana Arcand, and I have been involved in the gymnastics world for over 40 years now.  I was a gymnast in my youth, when I was a part of the Saskatchewan provincial team, making nationals twice and was the provincial floor champion 2 times.  I have participated in the LOC of many AGF and GymCan events working the floor at provincials, westerns, Elite Canada and Nationals.  I have been coaching recreational gymnastics for 30 years in different clubs throughout Alberta, with a great passion for the kids and the sport.  Throughout my career I have coached some lower level competitive and all ages and levels of recreational gymnastics along with some rhythmic gymnastics and performance groups.  I have been the Recreation Director at Salto for 6yrs now, with a great family of coaches and athletes.

dannica brown

Dannica is 17 and has lived in Sherwood Park her whole life. She did gymnastics for 4 years and is now a recreational coach at Salto. She hopes to provide a fun and exciting environment for all who are a part of Salto Gymnastics!

She loves the Salto family and is excited to see the club grow.

Emma Connolly

Hey!  I’m Emma Connolly I am 16 years old and in grade 11. I was born in Ireland and moved to Canada when I was 6 years old and that’s when I started gymnastics at Salto.  I did 3 years of artistic gymnastics before moving over to acrobatic gymnastics in which I competed for 6 years. I am currently in all star cheerleading at Alberta Cheer Empire on a level 7 Worlds team. In the past year I have developed a passion for coaching.  I enjoy coaching both gymnastics and cheer. My favourite part is sharing my love of sport with others and seeing progress after each class.

Rebecca Dargis

Rebecca (aka Coach Becky) is a Sherwood Park high school student who has been a part of the Salto community since her first Mat Mice class at 18 months old.  She later spent 7 successful years in the competitive acrobatics program, culminating in competing for Team Alberta and winning two gold medals at the Canadian National Championships.  She was known in the gym for her epic dive rolls, doing ‘the worm’ and never wasting an opportunity to bust out a Fortnite dance.  Rebecca is now completing the National Coaching Certification Program courses and is excited to be a part of the Salto coaching team.  She hopes to use her enthusiasm and experience to help the next generation of athletes meet their goals.

keanna Denis

Born in Edmonton and raised in Fort Saskatchewan AB, Keanna grew up with a love for sports.  She was a dancer for 5 years before she came across Salto’s competitive Acro team. Falling in love with Acro, she has surrounded herself with gymnastics since then. She’s very thankful to be a part of Acro as well as part of the Salto family.

kenna Erickson

Hi, my name is Kenna, I’m a high school student at Salisbury Composite and I’ve been a part of acrobatic gymnastics for 9 years as both an athlete and a coach. I’ve been at Salto Gymnastics for three, going on four years now.  Salto is an incredible gym and very welcoming to everyone I know. I’ve been able to improve and achieve many goals while training at Salto. My partnership and I were able to take home a gold medal in the 2023 National Championships thanks to the support we received from our coaches and the gym.

Sarah Eddy

Hi, my name is Sarah!  I’ve been coaching gymnastics for just under a year, but I’ve been coaching cheerleading since 2021!  I absolutely love coaching and have a deep past in the world of gymnastics, starting when I was three years old.  I am in my second year of my bachelor’s degree in psychology and chemistry with the end goal of working in the medical chemistry field to work on drugs aiding mental health.  Up until September 2023, I worked with the local sea cadet corps, 238 RCSCC Campbelltown, receiving many National and International awards and commendations.  I am so excited to re-join the Salto family, but as a coach this time!

Regan Forster

Hi, my name is Regan, and I am a coach and athlete at Salto. I am in grade 11 at Salisbury Composite.  I was in artistic gymnastics for many years and switched to acrobatic gymnastics when I was 11.  I have been training at Salto for 3 years now, going onto my 4th.  My partnership and I got to represent team Canada and win a silver medal at the 2022 Pam American Championships in Bogotá, Colombia. This would not have been possible without Salto’s support.

Alexa Glowacki

Born and raised in Sherwood Park, Alexa takes interest in gymnastics, soccer, volleyball, biking, long-boarding, and spending time with friends. She is very excited to be a part of the Salto family and hopes to spend lots of time learning and growing with the other coaches and students.

Danielle Gomes

Hi, I’m Danielle and I was a competitive gymnast for over 12 years.  With me no longer able to train long hours due to me being a student, I decided to spread my love of gymnastics through coaching!

Ainslee Grant

Hi, my name is Ainslee, and I started working at Salto in December 2023. I also have trained here for a year, and this will be my second year on the Acro team. I’ve found that Salto is a very positive place for me and for everyone that comes here. I was born and raised in Sherwood Park, and I am currently still in high school. I love to get creative with writing and drawing and love to explore different methods of arts and crafts. I find that gymnastics is a kind of starter sport, you can really branch into anything from it, and I find that very interesting.

Emma Hunter

Emma grew up in Edmonton and has been living in Sherwood Park since 2010. She started recreational gymnastics with Salto at the age of three and trained until 2021. Since then, she has been coaching recreational gymnastics with Salto. Along with gymnastics, Emma also did 13 years of competitive dance and has been skiing all her life. Salto has been home for Emma for over a decade and she hopes to create an environment where her students can thrive and have fun in gymnastics.

Carla James

Hey I’m Carla, my friends call me Los!  I’m the coach with the (usually) pink hair.  I’ve been coaching at Salto for over 10 years and my claim to fame is that I can recite the alphabet backwards!

Sophie Jenkinson

Helena Mymko

Growing up in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Helena has always loved gymnastics. Training 20+ hours a week from the age of 8-13, she has a very wide range of knowledge in the sport. Now a high school student, Helena is excited to be back at Salto not to train, but to coach.  She is very fortunate to be able to teach children about a sport she has always been passionate about.

Haley Nikel

Hey, my name is Haley.  I have been a coach at Salto since the beginning of 2021.  I coach a variety of classes, from parkour to competitive.  I love helping athletes to become stronger & more confident in their capabilities!

Emily Pitters

Emily has been an acro athlete for 5 years. One of her biggest accomplishments was representing Team Canada at the 2019 Pan American Championships winning Alberta’s first ever Gold medal. She has a strong passion for acrobatic gymnastics and loves coaching the sport! She is currently attending the University of Saskatchewan working towards a Bachelor of Education degree. Emily hopes that her passion and dedication for the sport will inspire all her athletes to accomplish what they once thought was impossible.

Jacey Radosh

Hi, my name is Jacey, I am a coach and athlete at Salto Gymnastics. I’m currently in grade 11 at Salisbury Composite High School. I am in the 16-hour Acro program and coaching the 6-hour Acro program. This past year my partner and I placed 1st at national championships thanks to the support from Salto Gymnastics.  Salto has given me many great experiences throughout my time here and I am excited for the upcoming opportunities as an athlete and coach.

Isla Radosh

Hi, I’m Isla and I started acrobatic gymnastics when I was 9 and competed for almost 4 years.  I now coach at Salto Gymnastics as a CIT for recreational gymnastics classes.

Nicole obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Politics, History, and Economics with Distinction at The King’s University in 2022.  She started her gymnastics journey as a recreational athlete at Salto Gymnastics Club and shortly thereafter, she joined the competitive gymnastics program.  After competing in gymnastics, in 2013 Nicole started coaching at Salto.  Nicole aspires to bring an upbeat personality and energy to each class in order to encourage a positive learning environment for her athletes.  Nicole believes that building solid foundations in gymnastics through strength, flexibility, and proper technique is best supported by encouraging positive mental fortitude in her athletes every day in training. Nicole cannot wait to see you in a gymnastics class!

Bailey Smith

Bailey started gymnastics at the age of three and moved to competitive training with Salto from the age of seven to seventeen. At the age of twelve, she began coaching on days she was not training.  In all, Bailey has been coaching with Salto for 27 years.

Maisen Start

Hi, my name is Maisen, and I was a gymnast for ten years, seven of which I was in the competitive program.  I grew up loving the sport and invested much time into it. I retired at level 9 a couple of years ago, and now I will be going on my second year of coaching. I love coaching with the people who taught me the foundations of gymnastics when I was younger.  I love seeing the kids not only become better athletes but also become better people. I am very excited to see what the future holds and what will come for Salto and our athletes.

Sophie Wright

Sophie has been involved with Salto for 18 years. Since she was two, she started training and then when she was old enough, she made the move to coaching.  She has been a coach here for 9 years now and she loves it!  For Sophie, there is nothing more fulfilling than watching an athlete accomplish their gymnastics goals and find joy in the same sport she loves.  When not at the gym, Sophie is going to school to become an elementary teacher!  She also loves to read books, watch TV and movies, and listen to music!

Anna Zirk

I started Acro out in Saskatchewan in 2019 with a background in gymnastics administration and was also a long-time recreational coach before starting the Acro program. I also coached the Special Olympics swimming program for 5 years. I have my education degree and have the goal to work for Gymnastics Alberta in the future.
